Thirty years of building software people actually rely on.
Founded in Switzerland in 1993 and now based primarily in the UK, UmbrellaDev has been quietly delivering the kind of work other agencies promise: on time, within budget, and to specification.
How we got here
UmbrellaDev started life in Switzerland in 1993, well before "digital transformation" was a phrase anyone used. From the start, the company invested in building its own technology platform rather than reselling someone else's — a decision that, three decades on, means our customers benefit from £5 million of platform development without paying for any of it.
That platform is the engine behind our cloud-based payments, fundraising, ticketing, image-management and member-community products. It's why we can embed payments into a website in minutes rather than weeks, and why we can offer "no end of life" guarantees that the bigger SaaS vendors won't.
Who we work with
Our client list includes international NGOs, government departments, large charities, professional membership bodies, regulated financial businesses, and small companies that just want a competent, available partner. The requirements vary; the standards don't.
We are indebted to individuals at UmbrellaDev who have provided the know-how and resources to build PurpleSpace from the ground up.
Where we work
UmbrellaDev's team is based across the UK and Europe. Our servers are UK-based, running on 100% renewable energy, backed by 24/7 server support. For sensitive projects we develop in SOC (Secure Operations Centre) environments and have a long track record on government work.
What we believe
No drama. No surprises. No "end-of-life" emails six months after launch. Our job is to remove the burdensome overheads that erode efficiency and profitability — not add to them.
